Founded in the 1850s by Americans who opposed slavery and government overreach, the Republican Party emerged as the party of liberty and equality. President Abraham Lincoln, our first Republican president, preserved the Union, abolished slavery, and ushered in a new era of civil rights through the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments. That legacy of courage and conviction continues to inspire us today.

Beaufort and Jasper Counties stand as examples of patriotism, service, and hard work.
