May 14, 2026 Republican Primary Candidate Forum Recap at Sun City Hilton Head

On Thursday May 14th at 7pm the Republicans of Sun City HH had a meeting in Pinckney Hall. Three Republican Primary Candidates spoke at the meeting. They were Stephen Goldfinch candidate for State AG, JoJo Woodward candidate for Beaufort County Sheriff, and Doug Seifert candidate for Beaufort County Sheriff.

All three candidates for State AG have spoken at our meetings. Please get out and vote early beginning May 25, 2026. If you do not know your polling place go to SCVOTES.gov to find your polling place for Republican Primary Election Day on 6/9. Early voting is Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm, beginning 5/25 and ending on Friday 6/5. Voting day for those who don’t vote early is Tuesday, June 9th.

RSCHH Minutes: Member Mtg May 14,2026

Opening:

• An invocation was given by President, Tim Wyld.
• The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Treasurer, Gary Noakes.
• The Creed was read to the group.
• Announcements:
• Tim Wyld promoted and encouraged members to check out the web page (SCHHRepublicans.com) and Facebook page (Republicans of SCHH).
• We need volunteers, in particular with Septemberfest.  Please consider volunteering.

Guest Speakers:

• Stephen Goldfinch, State Attorney General Candidate

• State Senator Goldfinch described himself as a conservative Republican, and reviewed his background while in the military, as a prosecutor, and as an entrepreneur. He described the three divisions of the Attorney General’s office, and discussed his accomplishments in regulatory law and passage of bond reform
• Questions from the group were around the backlog of criminal cases, costs with catching up on backlogs, the hate crime bill, and reforming the judicial system for appointing judges.

• JoJo Woodward, Beaufort County Sheriff Candidate

• Candidate Woodward reviewed his law enforcement career which began in 1986, and included every aspect of law enforcement. He reviewed his platform around reducing crime, community engagement, traffic, community policing, drugs and violent crime, immigration status, and transparency with the budget.
• Questions for him were around traffic on Argent Blvd, police substations, traffic control, electronic monitoring, immigration reform, and drug hot spots. 

• Doug Seiffert, Beaufort County Sheriff Candidate

• To campaign for this position, Lt Seiffert was required to resign from his position in the Beaufort County Sheriff office. He reviewed his career path from family business to Town Council, and then to the Sheriff office. He outlined the biggest issues in Beaufort County, including infrastructure, hiring and retention, drug enforcement, and the need to change as the county continues to grow. 
• Questions for him were around why he had to resign his position to campaign, increased transparency and accountability, gambling, repeat offenders, backlog of caseloads, staffing levels, Citizens Police Academy, homeowners defending their homes, homelessness in the county, traffic stops of illegals, and number of illegals in Beaufort County.

Closing Announcements:

• June 9 is the primary election. Everyone was encouraged to vote early, which starts on May 26, and goes through June 5. 

• Everyone was encouraged to attend the Get Out to Vote rally on Sunday, May 17, at 3:00, outside the GOP office in Riverwalk. 

• Sunday, May 17 is rededication of the USA as a Christian country.

• A special session is being held to reconsider a SC redistricting map.
• Tim Wyld asked the group a historical trivia question, with a prize given to member, Betsy Shanley.
